The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is looking to adopt AI for digital asset management and operations.

With the intention of replacing its current platform, CASA has invited technology firms and suppliers to showcase the AI capabilities of digital asset management platforms (DAMS), as first reported by iTnews.

“We are seeking to assess whether your proposed solution includes advanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities including auto-tagging and metadata extraction, face, logo and object recognition, speech-to-text transcription (video/audio), text-in-image (OCR) detection, semantic search (natural language search), auto smart collections, visual similarity search and duplicate and near-duplicate detection, vendors are encouraged to provide examples of how AI is embedded in their platform and the tangible benefits it delivers,” CASA said in a request for information regarding the replacement of its current DAMS.

CASA’s current platform utilises 10 full-access users and 500 non-contributor users.

Suppliers will be required to ensure their DAMS platforms and AI tools meet strict data sovereignty and security requirements, with all user information, data records and analytical calculations to be stored, processed and generated in Australia.

CASA added that the processing for the AI parts of the system would ideally be closed to the authority.

The authority said it wants the organisational processes developed and matured in its current DAMS platform rather than the new system entirely replacing it.

CASA declined to respond to questions sent by iTnews due to constraints while the RFI was before the market, according to a spokesperson.

“The purpose of this RFI is to gather details from suppliers regarding the capabilities, compliance, cost and suitability of their digital asset management solution,” the spokesperson told iTnews.

“The information collected will inform the selection process for a DAMS solution that aligns with our operational, security and regulatory requirements.”
